Mary Schmutte

Mary Schmutte has been weaving for 40 years. She started as a self taught rug weaver in Indiana in the 1980’s to sell at local Country Fairs and Festivals. Mary soon found the local weaving guild, started taking classes and became hooked on weaving with finer threads and exploring all the wonders of fiber. Over the years Mary has tried many aspects of fiber from crocheting, knitting, kumihimo braiding, spinning, felting, & dyeing but still keeps coming back to her first love weaving.Mary has published patterns for double woven dolls and critters along with teaching this technique. After moving to Florida in 2010 Mary became active in Weavers of Orlando. Mary found that she loved to share her experience in weaving with others and make new weavers understand that there’s really no right or wrong way to do something in weaving as long as it works for you and you get the results you want.
