Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

Florida Tropical Weavers Guild believes all members of our community should be treated respectfully and with dignity, regardless of race, ethnicity, caste, color, size, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, social class, marital status, family/parental status, background, culture, education, neurodivergence, political belief, preferred fiber content, fiber craft, preferred crafting method, or any other identifying characteristics.

We expect all board members, organizers, sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, and other participants to treat others with dignity and respect.

2. Expected Behavior

Speak and chat with the best of intentions and assume the same of others.

Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.

Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech.

Be mindful of your fellow participants. Alert conference organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you help to shape Florida Tropical Weavers Guild and make it your own.

Refrain from repeatedly providing dissenting views on a topic or from squashing others’ happiness.

3. Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct by any attendees of 2021 Florida Tropical Weavers Guild Conference and related events. Some Florida Tropical Weavers Guild platforms may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these tools.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images and links in public spaces (including presentation slides and virtual event text chat); deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

4. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated whether by other attendees, organizers, sponsors, or other patrons of Florida Tropical Weavers Guild platforms.

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the conference without warning or refund.

5. What to do if You Witness or are Subject to Unacceptable Behavior

If you are subject to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subject to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a Florida Tropical Weavers Guild Board Member as soon as possible.

The Florida Tropical Weavers Guild team will be available to help participants contact the platform moderators, or to otherwise assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the conference. 

Board Member’s name starts with “[B]”.You can send a private message to them, and they will connect you with a conference organizer who has the control of the video conferencing software.

6. Scope

We expect all website users and event participants (sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, and other guests) to abide by this code of conduct on all Florida Tropical Weavers Guild platforms and at all Florida Tropical Weavers Guild events.
