Description

You are a Fiber Artist! In this weekend workshop, students will integrate their skills as a craftsperson with the techniques and skills of a Fine Artist. Together we will create a fiber sketchbook that integrates many aspects of creating cloth and helps each maker identify their personal style. Throughout the class, enjoy comprehensive demos while personalizing your fiber artist sketchbook at a variety of maker stations set up throughout the room. Together we will explore weaving with non-traditional materials, fabric design, cyanotype printing, embroidery/slow stitching, applique, and more. We will connect our tradition craft processes to Fine Art concepts, like color line and pattern, and how they apply to our work as Fiber Artists. We will close the workshop by binding our books using book binding techniques. Students will leave with their own Fiber Art Book and new insights for planning weaving and spinning projects that please them for years to come.
