Unlock the world of creative possibilities in weaving by breaking away from the standard rectangle! In this immersive 2.5-day workshop, participants will delve into the art of weaving shaped edges. Learn to create geometric and organic shapes that can stand alone or are connected by raw unwoven yarn, creating dynamic movement. From beginners to advanced weavers, everyone is invited to explore techniques that transcend traditional rectangular boundary’s of weaving. Discover how to create shaped edges that not only stay secure but also add a charismatic flair to your woven masterpieces.

Registration Fees are paid when you register to attend the FTWG Conference. Materials fees are paid directly to the instructor at the beginning of class. You should plan to pay the materials fee in cash.

Instructor Bio

Sydney Sogol, the visionary weaver and yarn dyer behind Syd's Threads, draws inspiration from the harmonious union of weaving and nature. Operating from her Durham, NC studio, Sydney meticulously hand-dyes and hand-paints plant-based yarn, infusing each thread with the vibrant hues inspired by avian muses. Her sustainable approach reflects a genuine connection to the environment, fostering a dance of complex colors and patterns that echo the beauty of birds in her original designs. Beyond crafting beautiful textiles, Sydney shares her passion through teaching, inviting others to discover the joy of weaving. In her hands, every creation becomes a testament to the art of intertwining nature and craftsmanship.
