Rebecca Kobos’ uses fabrics to create realistic and whimsical images in her collages. A retired art teacher, some of her favorite subjects are cats, birds, plants, faces, and landscapes. She spends time making her larger framed pieces as well as smaller 5x7 mini-collages. Her work combines strong colors and patterns. Rebecca uses free-motion stitching to draw into these “fabric sketches” to add detail. Her pieces often include both commercial fabric and fabrics that she hand-dyes. Rebecca’s focus is largely on surface design in her fiber work, but she also spins yarn, weaves, paints, and collaborates with her husband on ceramic pieces. Her work can be seen in galleries in Florida, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
