      Description

      Cold connecting is a way to join pieces of metal without heat and solder. We will make a pair of textured sterling silver earrings and a pendant from old metal buttons.
      Skills learned: texturing metal with stamps and hammers, cutting and filing metal, applying patina and basic cold connection techniques.

      Materials Fee includes: Includes silver (sheet and wire), base metal, chain, and findings.

      Instructor Bio

      Brenda R. Gregory is a Florida artist residing in the city of Tampa. Brenda received her BFA in Medical Illustration and Associate of Applied Science in Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1984. She began her diverse art career as a medical and scientific illustrator and then as a graphic designer. Brenda’s ability to communicate the precision of detail necessary for medical illustration, coupled with the creativity required for illustration and graphic design is reflected in her metalsmithing and jewelry design. She is currently working on using her knowledge of jewelry making and incorporating that into other types of visual arts.

      Brenda is also a teaching artist who values the opportunity to support others in their creative pursuits.
