Spooky Weavings on the Pin Loom; Weave a Flat Rat
with Margaret Stump
This is a three hour introductory class in pin loom weaving open to all levels. There are no prerequisites and you don’t have to bring anything with you. If you are at all pin loom curious or if you have tried pin loom weaving in the past but would like a short refresher course, this is the class for you.
Students will have the opportunity to practice weaving on a 2″ pin loom and a 4″ pin loom. Since Margaret believes that every class should include a project that you get to take home (a lesson that she learned in Sunday School) students will be weaving and constructing a Flat Rat, which can be used as a tiny mascot, an interesting bookmark or a very curious coaster.
All of the necessary supplies, including looms, yarn, stuffing and beady little eyes, will be available in class. Students are encouraged to bring their own 4″ or 2″ looms with them because it is better to practice on your own loom.
Margaret’s weaving classes emphasize individual creativity and choice as well as support for one another. Hopefully this introductory class opens the door to yet another fascinating aspect of weaving for many of the students (and may convince a few that pin loom weaving is not something they wish to pursue). Either way, it’s a win.
