Weave Spooky “Day of the Dead” Flowers and Art Bag
with Margaret Stump
This three hour course is intended to give each student all of the material support, information and skills they will need to create their own Woven Flowers and Day of the Dead Art Bag (or a bag in whatever colors they choose).
Each student will be expected to bring a minimum of four and up to sixteen pin loom woven squares with them to class. Each flower requires two or three pin loom squares. They will begin the process of joining and embellishing their weaving– turning it into their own unique Art Bag plus woven embellishments. In addition to complete instructions for making an Art Bag Students will receive a rigid bag bottom, a complete sewn lining for the bag, and can choose from a variety of metal and other embellishments to add to their creation.
Art Bags are intended as an open-ended, creative way to utilize woven squares that may not have fit into other projects. Students are encouraged to bring as wide a variety of pin loom woven squares, perfect and imperfect, to add texture and soul to the work. The total number of squares needed for the project is twenty-four, but the bag will work better if they are not too much the same.
Margaret’s weaving classes emphasize individual creativity and choice. You are welcome to come and build on this pin loom weaving information and experience while taking those skills in an entirely different direction. Students should be able to leave class with all the materials and experience needed for their Art Bag.
