Mastering Color in Your Spinning:
Unlocking the Secrets of Hand-Painted Fiber
with Alanna Wilcox
Are you tired of spinning beautiful hand-painted tops and rovings only to end up with muddy or lackluster colors in your final yarn? It’s time to unlock the secrets of color in spinning!
Join Alanna in this exciting workshop based on her book A New Spin On Color as she takes you on a deep dive into the art of working with hand-painted fiber. As a Master Spinner, Alanna will guide you through techniques for spinning dyed tops and rovings in over 12 different ways to achieve a wide range of vibrant, intentional color outcomes.
You’ll learn how different approaches to drafting, color management, and fiber preparation can dramatically impact the final look of your yarn. The focus will be on understanding how to preserve, shift, or blend the colors in your fiber to achieve stunning results — instead of ending up with muddied shades.
Whether you’re a new spinner or an experienced one looking to refine your color control, this workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to create yarns that are as beautiful and dynamic as the fiber you start with.
